First Impressions
The sound machine is well designed and feels sturdy. It has buttons on top so you can adjust the volume, brightness, light and sound effects without using the app. The box includes instructions for downloading and connecting to the app, which are really easy to follow. And if you have other Momcozy smart devices, you can easily add this device to it. It is larger than other sound machines, but it fit just fine on my busy nightstand. I did have to make a little room when putting it in my son’s room, who has a smaller nightstand. The good news is that because it is app compatible it doesn’t need to be within reach if there wasn’t enough space for it in on a smaller side table.
Functionality
I really love the extra features that make this more than just a sound machine. There’s an alarm clock function that is perfect for my school-aged son. There is also a handy tap-to-snooze feature which I loved, and a soft sunrise alarm option! However, only some sound effects are available which limit your options. The Bluetooth speaker is also a nice feature for babies who have a favorite song or sound that isn't available on the sound machine.
If you prefer you can even set a timer to automatically shut off the sound machine when your little one is fast asleep or the house is quiet. Otherwise, you can keep it at its original setting. Finally, the child lock feature on the app locks the buttons on the sound machine. So you can rest assured your little one can’t change the sound and light effects if they get ahold of it.
Comfort & Ease of Use
The placement of the buttons makes it easy to change and adjust the settings, allowing you to choose different sound and light effects. Although, I find it a lot easier to do it through the app because there are so many options, and if you find a sound you like but accidentally skip it, there is no back button on the machine. The app makes it so much easier to browse!
Some other features are only available on the app, such as adjusting the brightness of the time display. Changing the brightness of the light feature and the sound volume is available through both the app and the sound machine though, so it's perfectly possible to use without. I especially love that the sound machine stays on even if I’ve closed the app.
Final Thoughts
The Momcozy Dreamsync Smart Baby Sound Machine changed the game for sound machines. I love how easy it is to use and the overall quality. Because it is a more expensive sound machine it’s nice that it can be used as much more than that. Additionally, I loved being able to control it from any room in the house. It really added convenience.
